Under the patronage of the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the “Zayed Grand Camel Race 2024” has officially begun, becoming one of the most important and famous camel races in the UAE. The event started on Monday at the Al Wathba Camel Race Track in Abu Dhabi and will continue until December 1. Thousands of camels are expected to participate, coming not only from the UAE but also from other GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries.
The organizing committee has allocated a total of 36 trophies for the event, which will feature 217 different races. The goal of these races is not only to highlight the speed and agility of the camels but also to celebrate the rich camel racing culture of the UAE and keep the ancient traditions of the sport alive. What makes this race unique is that it is named after the founding father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who introduced camel racing as a formal sport more than five decades ago. The event is being overseen by the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reflecting his strong commitment to the sportand the advancements it has achieved in recent years. Under his leadership, the “Zayed Grand Camel Race” has become a globally recognized event, offering a significant opportunity for camel racing enthusiasts across the UAE and the entire region.
The event is hosted by the Camel Racing Federation, led by Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, a key advisor to the President of the UAE.
