About SportSnip

SportSnip turns a full match video into short clips of every score and key moment. Rugby union clubs upload the match and its official match sheet; SportSnip names each clip from the sheet, a person checks it, and the club downloads it in landscape, vertical or square. SportSnip is run by DCD & Sons Ltd, a UK company.

Questions

What is SportSnip?

SportSnip is an online service that turns a full match video into short, named clips of every score and key moment. Clubs upload the match and the official match sheet, and SportSnip sends back clips ready to post, share with the team or use for coaching. It is run by DCD & Sons Ltd, a UK company, and is invite-only while it opens to clubs a few at a time.

Which sports does SportSnip cover?

Rugby union today: tries, conversions, penalty goals and cards each come back as their own clip, along with other big moments. Football is coming soon. Each sport uses its official match sheet to name the players, so every clip says who scored and in which minute.

What do I upload?

The full match video and the official match sheet as a PDF, straight from your browser. Big files are fine, and an upload that stops part-way carries on from where it stopped. For every match you upload, you confirm that your club holds the rights to the footage or has permission to use it.

What if there is no match sheet?

You can still upload. Without a sheet, clips have no player names, and scores, cards and minutes come from the video alone, so some moments may be missed or wrong. Footage with an on-screen score works best. Your club accepts that lower accuracy when it chooses to upload without a sheet.

Who checks the clips?

A person on the SportSnip team watches every clip before your club sees it, and approves, fixes or drops each one. Your team can then confirm each clip or correct it, for example a player's name. Those corrections help SportSnip get it right more often next time.

What formats do I get?

Every clip comes in landscape 16:9, vertical 9:16 for phones and stories, and square 1:1. You can download a single clip, every clip in one format, or a reel of the clips you star. Your club can also add its own logo, sponsor and colours with a brand kit.

Who owns the footage?

Your club does. You keep ownership of your footage, match sheets, brand kit and clips. SportSnip only stores and processes them to provide the service. They are visible only to your own team, and you choose how long they are kept or delete a game at any time.

How much does SportSnip cost?

SportSnip is free while it is invite-only. We won't charge a club anything without agreeing prices in writing first. To join, register your interest on this page and we will be in touch as we open to more clubs, a few at a time.
