In Pakistan, Syed Aqil Shah, former Sports Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been elected as the President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wrestling Association for the next four years, while Naimatullah has been chosen as the General Secretary.
The decision was made during a meeting of the General Council of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wrestling Association, presided over by Syed Aqil Shah. Officials from all divisions of the province attended the meeting.
In a unanimous decision, Syed Aqil Shah, who is also the President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association, was re-elected as President for a four-year term. Other elected officials include Haroon Rashid as Senior Vice President, with Zahid Khan, Khalid Habib, and Alina Riaz as Vice Presidents. Naimatullah was chosen as General Secretary, while Naveed-ur-Rehman, Uzair Ali Shah, and Nazish Ali were selected as Associate Secretaries. Waseem Afzal was appointed Finance Secretary, and Muhammad Umar, Subghatullah, Muhammad Asif Khan, and Nasir Ali were made members of the Executive Council.
Observers at the meeting included Zulfiqar Butt from the Pakistan Wrestling Federation, Amjad Khan (Badminton Secretary) from the Provincial Olympic Association, and Jafar Shah from the Directorate General of Sports.
After the election, the newly-elected President Syed Aqil Shah addressed the meeting. He emphasized taking all possible steps to promote wrestling in the province. He assured that players for the Quaid-e-Azam Games and the National Wrestling Championship would be selected strictly on merit.
Syed Aqil Shah expressed confidence that players from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would win medals in these events through their excellent performance. He also announced that open trials for the Quaid-e-Azam Games would be held on November 26 at the Peer Bala Wrestling Club, open to all players under the age of 22. Additionally, he confirmed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa players would participate actively in the National Wrestling Championship, scheduled to be held in Gujranwala from December 7.
