Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has issued an important statement amid the ongoing Champions Trophy controversy. The 47-year-old Afridi shared his thoughts on social media, saying, “Cricket is at a delicate crossroads, perhaps facing its biggest challenge since the 1970s.”
Afridi highlighted that now is the time to move beyond differences and unite for the game’s sake.”If two nations with a history of division can come together in the Olympic spirit, why not extend that unity to the Cricket Champions Trophy?” Afridi asked. He stressed that as custodians of the game, it’s our responsibility to control our egos and focus on the growth and spirit of cricket.
The former captain expressed hope to see every team participate in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, adding that all teams will experience Pakistan’s warmth and hospitality and take unforgettable memories from off the field
