Shadab Khan, the skipper of Islamabad United, candidly acknowledged that his standout performances in the PSL haven’t translated to the same level of success in international cricket. Speaking to the media in Karachi, Shadab shared insights into his recent form and the challenges he’s facing at the national level.
Working Hard in Domestic to Minimize Mistakes
Although his international form has taken a hit, Shadab remains determined to bounce back and elevate his game.
“I’m working hard in domestic cricket and trying to reduce mistakes,” he noted, expressing hope that consistent effort will eventually reflect in his international outings as well.
Reflection on New Zealand Tour and Support for Players
The Pakistan all-rounder also commented on the team’s recent tour of New Zealand, acknowledging that it didn’t go as planned.
“That series wasn’t great for us, but we believe in standing by our players during tough times. When players are backed, they eventually deliver,” said Shadab, emphasizing the importance of a supportive environment in building player confidence.
A Tough Year for the National Side
Looking at the bigger picture, Shadab admitted that 2024-25 hasn’t been a great year for the national team overall.
“It’s been a challenging season for Pakistan cricket, but we hope the players can rediscover their form and bounce back stronger,” he added.
Praise for Sahibzada Farhan’s Red-Hot Form
Shadab had high praise for Sahibzada Farhan, who has been in stunning form recently, especially in T20 cricket.
“He’s playing the best cricket of his career right now. I wish him the best and hope he performs just as well for Pakistan,” said the Islamabad United skipper, showing confidence in Farhan’s potential for the national team.
Hassan Ali’s Comeback Efforts Appreciated
Shadab also highlighted the hard work of fast bowler Hasan Ali, who has made a strong return to competitive cricket.
“Hasan has really worked hard over the past year, and now he’s finally seeing the rewards of that effort,” he said, applauding the pacer’s determination and resilience.
