A grand celebration of Afghan Refugees Day was held in a colorful event where a special women’s Taekwondo event was arranged at Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar. The competition hosted Afghan refugee women and Pakistani local women to compete in martial arts and unite in sports.
A Platform for Talent and Unity
The competition attracted a large turnout of participants, with both Afghan refugee women and Pakistani female athletes participating in different Taekwondo classes. The audience was treated to spectacular matches filled with agility, discipline, and skillful techniques. Chief Guest Shakil Muhammad Khan Safi, the Afghan Commissioner, appreciated the passion, ability, and commitment of the players. He highlighted the significance of such initiatives in the promotion of Afghan-Pakistani relations.
Other notable guests were Ehsanullah Khan, Directors Fazal Rabbi and Tahir Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Taekwondo Association Chairman Ilyas Afridi, and Taekwondo certified coach Muhammad Raja. Their visit gave prestige to the event and expressed firm backing for women’s sport development in the area.
