Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal believes the national team has gained much-needed confidence after winning the recent Tri-Nation Series. He said that while Pakistan’s batting line-up did not post big scores, the experience of winning will positively influence their performance in the Asia Cup.

Akmal acknowledged the strength of Afghanistan’s bowling attack and admitted Pakistan’s batters struggled to build long innings. However, he stressed that the team’s ability to still secure victories reflects resilience, which could be crucial against stronger sides in the Asia Cup.

Discussing the high-profile clash against India, Akmal noted that the Indian side no longer has players who used to single-handedly win matches against Pakistan. He also admitted Pakistan doesn’t have the same big-match players of the past but insisted the current squad has what it takes to deliver on the day.

Akmal emphasized that Pakistan’s success will depend heavily on the playing XI chosen for the big game.
“The bowling attack, the number of spinners, and selecting the best combination will decide the outcome,” he explained. “T20 is unpredictable—just one or two overs can completely change the game.”
