Speaking to the media after the match, Hesson said the Pakistani squad was fully prepared to uphold the long-standing tradition of shaking hands, a symbol of respect and sportsmanship in cricket.
“Obviously, we were ready for the handshake at the end of the game. It was disappointing to see our opposition not take part. We went forward for the handshake, but they were already heading towards the dressing room,” Hesson explained.
He added that despite being unsatisfied with their own performance on the field, the Pakistani players had no hesitation in following cricket’s etiquette.

Hesson also linked the incident to the absence of Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha, from the post-match presentation. He noted that the atmosphere had already turned sour by the time the players expected to exchange handshakes, which added to the sense of frustration within the Pakistan camp.
“Salman and I even approached the Indian camp after the game, but no one from their side came out. The situation left a lot of disappointment,” Hesson added.
