The third edition of the DP World International League T20 is set to begin on January 11, 2025. West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder will make his return to the tournament. After playing for Dubai Capitals last season, Holder will now represent the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.
As the league grows in profile and competitiveness, Holder is particularly excited about the increasing involvement of UAE players. He highlighted that this development not only enhances the quality of the game but also plays a crucial role in nurturing local talent.
The experienced cricketer, with 63 T20 Internationals and 261 overall T20 matches under his belt, praised the highly competitive nature of the DP World ILT20. He emphasized the impact of the league’s unique structure, which includes two UAE players alongside nine international players in the playing XI.
“When you have nine international players in the XI, it almost feels like playing an international match,” Holder explained. “The competition level is very high, which clearly enhances the tournament’s quality and competitiveness. I’m really looking forward to seeing more of it.”
Holder also appreciated the league’s role in promoting UAE talent and providing opportunities for cricketers in the region. “It’s always great to see local talent thriving. Many UAE players have the potential to not only play in this tournament but also perform in other international competitions. As the league grows, so will the talent, and UAE cricket will become even stronger. I believe the tournament is in good hands, and I hope we can continue supporting everyone’s development,” he added.
