India has refused to issue visas to Pakistani players for the Asia Youth Scrabble Championship, preventing the team from defending their title.
According to the Pakistan Scrabble Association, national players applied for visas two months before the event, but the Indian High Commission in Pakistan intentionally delayed the process.
While some players received their visas at the last minute, more than half were not issued visas, with no explanation provided. The Asia Youth Scrabble Championship kicked off on Sunday in New Delhi. Pakistan previously won the Asian title in India in 2022.
