Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has blamed himself for the whitewash in the three-Test series against New Zealand, saying that I did not perform at my best.
Talking to the media, Rohit Sharma said that the entire Indian team could not play well collectively in this series, but they too have failed to show their best performance, while New Zealand performed well in every department against us. The Indian captain further said that losing a Test series is never easy.
This is something that is not easily digested. Once again, we did not play our best cricket and we made many mistakes in this series, which we have to admit.
Rohit Sharma attributed the defeat in the series to the batting as the main reason for the defeat and said that our batsmen did not score enough runs on the board in any Test match to put the opponent under pressure. The Mumbai Test saw a low target that could have been achieved but the batsmen disappointed him again.
In response to a question about his batting form, he said that as a senior player and captain, he could not perform well in this series and this situation is very disappointing while the young batsmen (Rishabh Pant, Yashvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill) showed how to bat.
