Gaddafi Upgrades & India-Pakistan Cricket Talks :PCB Chief

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has stated that it is unacceptable for Pakistan to play in India while India refuses to visit Pakistan. His statement highlights the ongoing deadlock in cricket relations between the two countries, emphasizing the need to reopen the doors of cricket between them. He shared these thoughts during a detailed late-night visit to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, where he reviewed the progress of its renovation project.

The visit was attended by the project director of FWO, infrastructure directors, domestic cricket officials, and NESPAK representatives, who briefed the chairman on the various stages of the project. Mohsin Naqvi climbed to the top step of the newly constructed stands to enjoy the stunning view of the stadium. He expressed his determination to ensure that all construction work is completed by the end of December, well before the Champions Trophy begins.

He instructed the relevant officials to maintain high standards of construction, ensuring every aspect aligns with international quality. Speaking to the media, Naqvi stressed that decisions would be made in the best interest of Pakistan cricket and assured that the national team would be fully prepared for the tournament.

The PCB chairman expressed satisfaction with the progress of the stadium’s upgrade, stating that 70% of the work has been completed, transforming Gaddafi Stadium into a world-class venue. He shared that the construction of the enclosures is progressing rapidly, the main building floors are finished, and work on the pavilion and boxes is in its final phase.

He confidently stated that, with Allah’s blessings, the Champions Trophy will take place in Pakistan. Naqvi reaffirmed PCB’s commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s interests and taking every necessary step for the success of the event.

Regarding the improvement of cricket relations between Pakistan and India, he said discussions with the ICC are ongoing. He expressed hope for reopening cricket ties between the two nations, which he believes will not only promote the sport in the region but also reignite enthusiasm among fans.

Mohsin Naqvi assured that the national team would be fully prepared for any situation. He emphasized that the PCB would always prioritize Pakistan’s cricket interests, whether it involves team performance or hosting international events. His statement reflects PCB’s determination to elevate Pakistan cricket to new heights.
