Former Pakistani cricketer Tanvir Ahmed has shared his views on Pakistan’s recent Test match defeat against the West Indies in their home series. Expressing his disappointment, the former pacer claimed that the poor performance was not the fault of the players but rather the responsibility of the head coach and selectors.
Forced to Play a Certain Way?
Speaking candidly, Tanvir Ahmed remarked, “The kind of cricket we played was terrible. If you ask me, I would say we were forced to play this way.” His comments suggest dissatisfaction with the team’s approach and strategy, implying that players had little control over how they performed on the field.
Blaming the Pitch and Selection Choices
Tanvir further argued that the type of pitches prepared for the series played a crucial role in Pakistan’s downfall. He reiterated his previous stance, stating, “I have said before that if our batting collapses or our batters fail to perform, the entire responsibility falls on the head coach.”
The former fast bowler also pointed fingers at the selectors, claiming that they were equally responsible for the team’s struggles. “The selectors are accountable for preparing such pitches, which ultimately led to our defeat,” he added.
Need for Better Planning and Strategy
Tanvir Ahmed’s remarks highlight a growing concern over Pakistan’s team management and strategic decisions. His criticism raises questions about whether changes in coaching and selection policies are necessary to improve future performances.
