There have been reports in the Indian media about the possibility of the Indian team not participating in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. No official announcement has been made yet. Recently, reports from the Indian media suggested that India’s team might skip the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, proposing a “hybrid model” as an alternative. According to these reports, India’s matches could be shifted to Dubai instead of Pakistan.
When asked about this, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated that neither the BCCI nor the ICC has officially informed them of any such decision. He confirmed that the tournament is still planned to take place in Pakistan, and they are continuing with their preparations. He added that no discussions about a hybrid model have occurred, and Pakistan should not be expected to compromise every time.
Now, a statement from India’s captain Rohit Sharma has surfaced regarding the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. When asked by the media if the Indian team would visit Pakistan, Rohit Sharma replied that the decision lies with the cricket boards, not with the players. He said that they focus on the tournament itself, and wherever the board sends them to play, they go. He added, “If the board sends us to Pakistan, we have no issue playing there.”
It’s worth noting that the Champions Trophy is scheduled for February-March 2025 in Pakistan, but India’s participation is yet to be confirmed.
