Ben Sears Joins Yorkshire for 2025 County Championship

New Zealand’s fast bowler Ben Sears has signed with Yorkshire for the 2025 County Championship season. The 27-year-old pacer will be available for Yorkshire’s second match of the season against Worcestershire at Headingley.

Sears’ Impressive Bowling Career

Sears has made a name for himself with his fast bowling, particularly in red-ball cricket. He made his Test debut for New Zealand in 2024 against Australia in Christchurch, where he delivered an outstanding performance. In the first innings, he took five wickets, while in the second innings, he claimed four wickets for 90 runs. His ability to generate pace and movement has earned him recognition as a promising talent in international cricket.

Before his Test debut, Sears made his T20I debut for New Zealand against Bangladesh in 2021, showcasing his versatility across formats.

Joining Forces with Fellow Kiwi Will O’Rourke

Sears will not be the only New Zealander in the Yorkshire squad. He will be joined by fellow fast bowler Will O’Rourke, who has been signed for the T20 Blast. The club has also drawn comparisons between Sears and former Yorkshire overseas player Lockie Ferguson, another New Zealand speedster.

Exciting Times Ahead for Yorkshire

With Sears and O’Rourke strengthening their bowling attack, Yorkshire aims to enhance its competitiveness in the County Championship. Fans eagerly await Sears’ debut in the tournament, hoping for more fiery spells from the Kiwi pacer.
