The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly in talks with the West Indies Cricket Board to revise the upcoming bilateral series, aiming to replace scheduled One Day Internationals (ODIs) with T20 Internationals (T20Is).
PCB Prefers Shorter Format Ahead of Major Events
In a statement to the media, PCB Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sameer Ahmed Syed revealed that the board is actively exploring the possibility of converting the ODI matches during the West Indies tour into T20 contests.
“There are major global events coming up in the next few months,” Sameer explained. “We are in discussions with the West Indies board to give our team more opportunities in the shorter format to help them prepare better.”
Focus on International Exposure for Players
The PCB’s push for more T20s is part of a broader strategy to enhance the national team’s exposure in high-pressure environments. Officials believe that increased participation in international T20 games will help players better adapt to global standards and fine-tune their performance in preparation for upcoming ICC tournaments.
Sameer further emphasized,
“Our goal is to give the players maximum international exposure so they can perform at their peak when it matters most.”
Scheduled Tour: August 2025 Series Overview
As per the existing schedule, Pakistan is set to tour the West Indies in August 2025. The itinerary currently includes:
3 T20 Internationals
3 One-Day Internationals (ODIs)
However, if the PCB’s request is approved, the tour could feature six T20Is instead, allowing Pakistan to further build momentum and cohesion in the shortest format.
