A tragic accident at a birthday party sets the Punjab Food Authority on investigation
Birthday Party Becomes A Tragedy
A birthday party in Gujranwala turned into an unimaginable tragedy for overseas wrestler Naveed, whose two young daughters lost their lives after eating what is believed to be adulterated food. The family had ventured out for a meal to celebrate the 7th birthday of their daughter Noor Fatima, but the evening celebrations soon turned into a nightmare.
Sudden Illness Strikes the Family
Naveed shared that shortly after dining out, he and his four children began experiencing severe illness and were immediately taken to Civil Hospital Gujranwala for urgent medical care. Unfortunately, two of his daughters, 7-year-old Noor Fatima and 4-year-old Jannat, could not be saved despite treatment and died at the hospital.
Family Calls It an Accident, No Legal Action Requested
In a statement, Naveed’s family and he himself showed great sadness but explained that they feel this is an accident, not a case of foul play. “We don’t want to take action or press charges against anyone,” replied Naveed, asking for privacy and prayers at this difficult time.
Punjab Food Authority Initiates An Immediate Investigation
The case has also drawn the concern of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA). Its Director General, Asim Javed, took prompt notice and ordered food safety teams to launch a detailed inquiry.
As per a PFA spokesperson, officials have already sat down with the bereaved family and hospital staff to get preliminary details. Inquiries will involve visits to the bakery and food store where the food was bought.
Food Samples to Be Tested in Lab
As part of the inquiry, food samples will be seized and tested for laboratory analysis to ascertain the presence of any harmful substances. The PFA has assured an open and prompt inquiry to provide food safety and avoid such disasters in the future.
A Community in Mourning
This tragic accident has sent shockwaves through the entire Gujranwala community, particularly the sports community, where Naveed is well-known and respected. The death of two innocent lives has renewed questions regarding food hygiene conditions in local restaurants, prompting authorities to act more stringently.
