He also recognized increasing confidence in the youngsters within the team and their contribution towards the series.
Upcoming Tours and Team Strategy
For the future, Salman Ali Agha revealed plans for Pakistan’s future tours to Bangladesh and the West Indies. He added that the team may have to be complemented with additional spinners to suit the varied conditions of pitches in those nations. Salman further added that if the Asia Cup event occurs, it will be staged in Dubai, where conditions will be the same.
He reiterated that as long as he is the captain, the team will play aggressive, pressure cricket and keep putting bowlers and batsmen in constant pressure. Looking back at Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand, Salman said the team attempted to play in the same manner, but the conditions in New Zealand were tough. Nevertheless, his target is still to keep the original core team intact while embracing players who play well enough to come back.
Praise for Mohammad Haris and Pakistan’s Team Progress
Salman appreciated Mohammad Haris for his regular performances in the series. He termed the team to be in the right growth stage, where consistent victories will automatically bring them to achieve larger goals. Salman emphasized the need to get used to the demands of modern cricket, particularly with regard to how pitch conditions affect the game.
He also expressed gratitude to the enthusiastic crowd in Lahore for their support, highlighting that fans were more satisfied with the team’s newfound attitude towards the game. Such crowd enthusiasm inspires players to continue providing thrilling performances.
Domestic Cricket and Flexible Batting Order
The captain reaffirmed the importance of domestic cricket and the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) contribution to the identification of talents for the national team. He assured that they would still value domestic performances and give opportunities to emerging players.
As far as batting order goes, Salman said Mohammad Haris is a consistent number three batsman, whereas Hasan Nawaz is playing in the middle order. He further said that the batting order would be kept fluid with positions adjusting according to requirements in order to optimize team performance.
