Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has made a significant decision following his exclusion from the Champions Trophy squad and the ODI series against England. Siraj, who was dropped in favor of Arshdeep Singh, has decided to skip the Ranji Trophy match against Himachal Pradesh on January 23 due to workload management. However, he will be available for Hyderabad’s final season match against Vidarbha.

Indian selectors opted for Arshdeep Singh over Siraj for the Champions Trophy, citing the need for a bowler who can handle both the middle and death overs with the new ball. Captain Rohit Sharma explained that Siraj struggles with the older ball and loses his impact when not given the new ball. Sharma mentioned the need for variety in the bowling attack, emphasizing the inclusion of bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Arshdeep Singh who can deliver in various phases of the game.

Despite his exclusion, Mohammed Siraj’s recent performances have been commendable. He played all five Test matches against Australia, taking a total of 20 wickets.
