Rizwan Remembers His First Ball Dismissal on Test Debut

Pakistan’s Test cricketer Mohammad Rizwan has opened up about a moment he says he can “never forget” – getting out on the very first ball of his debut Test match.

Speaking to the media after scoring a solid 75 runs in Pakistan’s first innings during the opening Test against South Africa at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Rizwan shared how that early setback shaped his cricketing journey.

Learning from Early Mistakes

Rizwan said that his debut dismissal was a tough experience, especially after waiting a long time for his chance to play Test cricket. “I’ll never forget that moment,” he said. “I had worked so hard for that opportunity, and it was over in one ball.”

He revealed that his batting coach had already warned him about the possibility of facing a bouncer on the first delivery. “They said it would be a short ball, and that’s exactly how I got out,” Rizwan recalled. “But I learned a lot from it, and that memory stays with me.”

Adapting to Different Playing Conditions

Reflecting on the ongoing Test series, Rizwan spoke about the challenges of adjusting to different pitch conditions around the world. He noted that while Pakistan’s pitches generally offer low bounce, countries like England and South Africa provide higher bounce, which makes batting more difficult.

“You need to find solutions to such challenges,” he explained. “If you prepare spinning tracks, they apply to both teams. In Pakistan, conditions often favor bowlers, and even fast bowlers from visiting sides have succeeded here.”

Confidence in Pakistan’s Progress

Rizwan also praised Pakistan’s recent achievements, including their strong performances in the previous Test Championship cycle. “We achieved some good results, especially beating England,” he said. “This series against South Africa looks promising too, and I’m confident it will be competitive.”

The wicketkeeper-batter emphasized that every match is a learning opportunity and that Pakistan’s players are growing stronger through experience.
