The intense action continues at the WTA National Bank Open in Montreal, with top stars Naomi Osaka and Madison Keys securing their spots in the women’s singles quarterfinals.
Naomi Osaka Crushes Sevastova in Straight Sets
Japan’s four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, 27, delivered a dominant performance in her Round of 16 match, defeating Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova in straight sets.
Osaka dominated from the start, sealing a swift victory with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 scoreline. Her powerful groundstrokes and precise serves left little room for Sevastova to find rhythm. With this emphatic win, Osaka now moves on to face Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals.
Madison Keys Fights Back to Eliminate Muchova
In a much more tightly contested battle, sixth-seeded American Madison Keys, 30, overcame a stiff challenge from the Czech Republic’s Karolina Muchova.
Keys dropped the first set but showed resilience to come back and win 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in an exciting three-set thriller. Her aggressive baseline play and mental toughness were key factors in securing the victory.
She now sets up a quarterfinal clash against Denmark’s rising star Clara Tauson.
