Pat Cummins Enters 1000 Runs, 100 Wickets Club in WTC

Australia’s skipper Pat Cummins has made history by becoming the first Aussie and only the third player worldwide to achieve the rare milestone of scoring 1,000 runs and taking 100 wickets in the ICC World Test Championship. He accomplished this incredible feat during the first day of the third Test against the West Indies at Sabina Park, Jamaica.

Cummins’ Milestone in Numbers
Cummins reached the 1,000-run mark in style, scoring 9 runs in a quick 24-run cameo, which included three sixes off just 17 balls. With this, his career WTC numbers now stand at:

Runs: 1,015

Wickets: 213

Matches: 51

This makes him the only Australian player and the third overall to achieve this double in World Test Championship history.

Joining Ashwin and Jadeja in the Exclusive Club
Before Cummins, the only players to achieve the 1,000-run and 100-wicket double in the WTC were India’s star all-rounders:

Ravichandran Ashwin

Matches: 41

Runs: 1,142

Wickets: 195

Ravindra Jadeja

Matches: 42

Runs: 2,151

Wickets: 134

Now, Pat Cummins joins this elite group, bringing an Aussie presence to a list previously dominated by India.

Australia Dominating the Series
Australia had already sealed the three-match Test series against West Indies with a 2-0 lead before the third game began. Cummins’ personal milestone added a golden moment to an already dominant series for the Australians.

Mitchell Starc Surpasses Brett Lee in All-Time Wicket Tally
While Cummins was celebrating his WTC achievement, another Australian pacer, Mitchell Starc, crossed a major career milestone. He became Australia’s third-highest wicket-taker in international cricket, overtaking legendary fast bowler Brett Lee.

Mitchell Starc’s Career Wickets:
Total Matches: 322

Total Wickets: 719

Tests: 396 (100 matches)

ODIs: 244 (127 matches)

T20Is: 79 (65 matches)

By comparison, Brett Lee had:

Test Wickets: 310

ODI Wickets: 380

T20I Wickets: 28

Total Wickets: 718

Starc achieved this feat on the opening day of his 100th Test, marking it as a truly special occasion.
